Spring Style For The Business Professional Made Simple

Ticknors style experts gave us some great spring style advice earlier this month. If you missed it, see what we said about transitioning your winter wardrobe to spring here.

Looking effortlessly stylish this spring shouldn’t be hard. We are seeing a lot of bold patterns, fun colors, and some really stylish prints.

This seasons sport shirts have whimsical patterns and hidden colors (like the colors on this contrast cuff on our Bugatchi shirt.)

Our sport coats add interest and tie in the look with extra elements, like this Robert Graham sport coat with a zipped in sweater liner.

But what do you do if you feel like these looks don’t transition well for business looks? We are here to help you make the best and most stylish choices in your business wardrobe.

We are sure your next question is  - how can I add fun colors to my business wardrobe and still look professional? We are glad you asked! We have a few tips to make it easy and effortless for you to look spring-like in your suits!

When in doubt, add the bold color in to your look in your pocket square or tie. This is the perfect way to quickly inject spring in to your look. If you don’t want to go too crazy with your colors, swap out your silk ties for something different - maybe a blend or even a linen tie. Spring isn’t JUST about color, it’s about fabrics also!

Speaking of fabric, why don’t you try a lighter weight suit? If changing up the color of your suit isn’t your thing, try playing with fabrics. Blends, linens, and cottons can make a big difference.

You can even play with a more bold take on a standard pattern (like this prominent plaid pattern of this Michael Kors coat) and pair it with a great shirt and tie. This can elevate your look and bring in that spring!

Play with a polo. Polos are a lighter weight fabric and can add a level of interest if worn with a suit. If you want to add a polo under your suit coat, we suggest choosing a polo in the traditional pique fabric.

You can really have fun with some of the polos that have contrasting collars and plackets. (Robert Graham does a great job with that) Swapping your dress shirt for a polo is another easy way to add some spring to your outfit while still looking professional.

Swap out your dark leather for lighter, more buttery tones and other fun colored shoes and accessories. Spring is the perfect time to dust off those camel monk straps! If you’ve got some great blue suede dress shoes, now is the time to wear them.

Two-toned shoes, dress sneakers, and those white leather loafers all have a place in your wardrobe in the spring. Just make sure to treat them all with the right waterproof treatments so you don’t ruin them with some surprise spring showers.

Spring doesn't have to be absent from a business professionals wardrobe. Use our tips to add some fun spring style to your professional look and look effortlessly stylish at the office and other professional settings.
